Growing through travel

In history we have seen that composers got inspired by earlier composers and musicians but also by their travels to other countries. In this concert series the Sonas Trio travels with a few of the greatest composers in our history; Beethoven, Kreisler and Mendelssohn. We invite you on a musical journey with us, seeking what music they wrote while being inspired by another environement.

In onze geschiedenis hebben we gezien dat componisten geïnspireerd werden door eerdere componisten, maar ook door hun reizen naar andere landen. In deze concert serie reist het Sonas Trio mee met een paar van de grootste componisten; Beethoven, Kreisler en Mendelssohn. Wij zouden u mee willen nemen op een muzikale reis, om te ontdekken welke muziek zij componeerden, geïnspireerd op een andere omgeving.

Sonas Trio

The Sonas Trio aspires to create connection through their music. Although originating from the different countries of Scotland and the Netherlands, they believe that music gives the power communicate and form friendship that transcends different cultures.
The Sonas Trio formed in the Netherlands shortly after Roanna Tait (violin) and Rachel Daniels (cello) graduated from their masters’ studies, when Frans Van Tuijl (piano) was looking to form a new group. After the first rehearsal it was clear, they loved playing together.
Their enthusiasm and energy to play music with each other, and their desire to cross cultural boundaries through music is reflected in their name. ‘Sonas Trio’ is a combination of the Latin ‘Sonos’ (sound) and the Scots Gaelic ‘Sonas’ (happiness). Their sound makes them happy, and therefore hopefully you too!

Het Sonas Trio streeft naar connectie binnen de muziek. Al is hun muzikale loopbaan in verschillende landen begonnen- Nederland en Schotland- ze geloven dat muziek de kracht en de mogelijkheden geeft te communiceren te verbinden  en buitengewone vriendschappen creëert die taal en cultuur te boven gaan.
Het Sonas Trio ontstond in Nederland, vlak nadat Roanna Tait (viool) en Rachel Daniels (cello) waren afgestudeerd, en Frans van Tuijl (piano) op zoek was naar een nieuwe kamermuziek groep. Na de eerste repetitie was het duidelijk, ze konden niet meer stoppen met spelen.
Hun enthousiasme en energie om samen te spelen en hun wens om met muziek contact te maken ondanks verschillende afkomst is gereflecteerd in hun naam. ‘Sonas Trio’ is een combinatie van de Latijnse woorden ‘sonos’ (klank) en het Schotse Gaelic ‘Sonas’ (vreugde). Het samen spelen maakt hen blij, en daarom hopelijk ook u!
